《冨嶽三十六景》で知られる江戸時代後期の浮世絵師。九十歳近くまで描き続け、風景版画の形を決定づけました。
作風・特徴
輪郭線で形を確定し、内側を平らな色で埋める木版の特性を、構図の設計そのものに使いました。近景を極端に大きく、遠景を小さく置く対比が特徴です。
